Dalai Lama's Sister to Speak at Event

The sister of Tibet's Dalai Lama will be honored Saturday at a reception sponsored by Orange County Friends of Tibet in Laguna Beach.

Rep. Christopher Cox (R-Newport Beach) will also speak at the event, which will feature Tibetan music and food.

Jetsun Pema, a minister of Tibet's exile government who oversees housing for homeless children in India, will speak about the situation in her country, said Ava Park, founder of Orange County People for Animals, also a sponsor.

Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for students. Proceeds will benefit the Tibet Fund, which provides schools, orphanages and housing for Tibetan refugees. The reception will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anneliese Academy at 20062 Laguna Canyon Road.
