Instead of diamond-encrusted jewelry or fine porcelain, the windows of Tiffany's were adorned last week with artwork created by 14 Orange County students.

The students' three-dimensional works, which will remain in the South Coast Plaza store's windows through April 7, were chosen by Tiffany's from among thousands of entries in the 24th annual Color It Orange art exhibition.

The exhibition, sponsored by Designing Women and the Art Institute of Southern California, will run through April 5 at the art school, 2222 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach.

The show includes 500 pieces selected by a jury of professional artists. More than 4,000 entries were submitted by students in kindergarten through grade 12. Students from 200 local schools entered artworks, hoping for a spot in the exhibition.

Scholarships to the institute's summer course valued at $1,000 apiece are being awarded to 20 students in grades 10, 11 and 12. Other students will receive certificates of merit.
