Police Union Invites Public to Session on Labor Talks

March 24, 1998

Members of the Beverly Hills Police Officers Assn. will hold a public meeting Wednesday to discuss issues involving contract negotiations with the City Council, officials said.

The association, which has been without a contract since July, scheduled the meeting after a demonstration at a recent council session prompted questions from the public, said Det. Joe Chirillo, the group's president.

Members rejected an offer from the city in January of a 4% raise each year for three years because the city would not offer sergeants an additional 10%. A nonbinding arbitration hearing on the matter is scheduled Thursday.

The public meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Roxbury Recreation Center, 471 S. Roxbury Drive.
