VENTURA — Oxnard fighters Tony Garcia and Israel Corea had their small followings firmly in their corners Thursday night at The Derby Club at Seaside Park.

With a crowd of about 300 enthusiastically cheering the 23-year-old fighters, both furthered their fledgling professional careers with four-round victories by unanimous decision.

Garcia (2-2) landed numerous hard combinations against Daniel Perez of Lakewood in a super-welterweight bout. Garcia, scoring at will with both hands, won every round.

In the third round, Garcia snapped Perez's head back with consecutive left jabs. Garcia staggered Perez again in the fourth, pounding him against the ropes.

Corea (2-0), trained by Eduardo Garcia at La Colonia Youth Boxing Club, beat Alejandro Gonzales (0-2) of Downey in a junior-lightweight bout.

Corea recorded most of his scoring blows with his feet moving and piled up points early.

The six-bout card featuring a handful of young fighters was the third presentation by Oxnard promoter Robert Valdez in the past year. The next event is scheduled for April 16.

In a six-round super-welterweight bout, Juan Torres (9-3) of South Lake Tahoe outboxed Alex Jimenez of Canoga Park for a unanimous decision.

Torres was in control throughout the bout and won on all three judges' cards.

In other bouts, Ramon Valle of Sun Valley won a four-round unanimous decision over Mario Sanchez of Northridge in a bantamweight bout.

Marcio Castilho of Huntington Beach defeated Joseph Ojomoh of Van Nuys, winning a four-round majority decision.
