March 31, 1998

North Hollywood showed no ill effects from the 26-mile, 385-yard jog it took only a day earlier, pounding Reseda, 12-2, Monday in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at North Hollywood.

The Huskies (7-3, 4-0 in conference play), who had 17 varsity and 10 junior varsity players compete in the Los Angeles Marathon along with Coach George Vranau, received a well-deserved rest when the game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Jose Figueroa (2-1) pitched a four-hitter, striking out three and walking three.

Oscar Cardona hit his first home run in the fifth inning for Reseda (4-5, 0-4).

Cleveland 7, El Camino Real 3--Vince Zuniga hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Cavaliers (5-3, 1-3) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at El Camino Real.

Jose Avila had a two-run single for Van Nuys and Barajas hit a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning that put the Wolves ahead, 3-2.

Sylmar 22, Canoga Park 0--Ivan Hernandez and Vince Anguiano combined on a five-inning one-hitter for visiting Sylmar (9-1, 5-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Lanark Park that was called because of the 10-run rule.
