Scoop du Jour

November 01, 1998

It's Sunday, you want to gather the family around the table for dinner tonight 'cause, well, that's what families are supposed to do, right? So you're thinking, what, slab of beef? Maybe a heavy cream sauce-covered pasta? Hmmm. Mealtime--even when it's at a restaurant--doesn't have to be fat-laden. If you want to reach or maintain a healthy weight, avoid fried, sauteed and breaded foods, cream and butter sauces, salty soups and meats, and sweet, creamy desserts.

That doesn't mean you're stuck with a plate of celery and carrot sticks, though. Try a pasta with a tomato-based sauce; broiled, steamed or grilled chicken, fish or lean meat; arroz con pollo; and curry dishes without coconut milk can be delicious and body-friendly.
