One of the county's most consistent go-to hitters, the 5-foot-9 Beauregard also is playing tough defense. She had nine digs to go along with her team-high 13 kills Tuesday as the Monarchs beat previously undefeated Capistrano Valley, putting the schools in a tie for first place in the South Coast League.

Glenny De La Cruz/Field Hockey

* Santiago, senior. Scored four times in 8-0 victory over Westminster that enabled Cavaliers to earn a berth in Tournament of Champions.

Kendall Billingsley/Cross-Country

* Mission Viejo, sophomore. Broke the Laguna Niguel Park three-mile course record with a run of 18 minutes 57 seconds.

Taylor Gavin/Cross-Country

* Orange Lutheran, junior. Set a course and school record of 15:43 for the unbeaten Lancers at Arcadia Park.
