'Peeves 2' Gets More Off Vincent's Chest

We all have them: pet peeves.

Dan Vincent of Orange seems to have more than his share. He's assembled a collection, illustrated with his cartoons, in "Pet Peeves 2" (DG Publishing; $10.95), a sequel to his 1993 collection.

What bugs Vincent probably bugs you too. To wit:

* When that jerk behind you at the movies rests his feet on the seat next to you.

* When your neighbor mows his lawn at 7 a.m. on the weekend.

* When you're riding a bike and your feet slip off the pedals. Ouch!

Vincent, a bar manager at a Laguna Beach restaurant, will sign copies of his book from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pacific Gallery, 228 Forest Ave., Laguna Beach.

DG Publishing will donate 25% of the profits from the book to the Jonathan Jaques Children's Cancer Center at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

"Pet Peeves 2" is available through the Internet at

Edward Lazarus, author of "Closed Chambers," Amy Ephron, author "A Cup of Tea," Betty Garrett, author of "Betty Garrett and Other Songs: A Life on Stage and Screen," and Adeline Yen Mah, author of "Falling Leaves," will discuss their books at the ninth annual books and authors luncheon sponsored by the Laguna Hils chapter of the Brandeis University National Women's Committee, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Irvine Marriott, 18000 Von Karmen. $40. Proceeds will go to the Library Work Scholar Fund at Brandeis University, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. For reservations, call (949) 830-1832.
