The House of Lords, Britain's highest court, was told by lawyers for British and Spanish prosecutors that Augusto Pinochet had no right to immunity given the "savage and barbarous crimes"--including the slayings of children and torture--that Chile's former dictator was responsible for. The lawyers were seeking to overturn a ruling that Pinochet's Oct. 16 arrest on a Spanish warrant was illegal. The appeal may be heard through next week.
