November 15, 1998|KELSEY MYERS

REDLANDS — Nothing could go right for Cal Lutheran on Saturday night.

Redlands capitalized on a pair of early fumbles and rolled to a 53-13 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

The night began for Cal Lutheran (5-4, 2-3 in SCIAC play) with long delays on the road to Redlands (7-2, 4-1), pushing the start of the game back a half-hour.

The Kingsmen defense showed up late as well, allowing 300 yards in the first half, which Redlands parlayed into a 33-0 lead.

Danny Ragsdale of Redlands fought through flu symptoms to complete 19 of 26 passes for 390 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterbacks Zack Hernandez and Nick Odenath combined for 173 yards passing for the Kingsmen, who dropped to third in the conference standings.

Fredric Nanhed of Cal Lutheran had 147 yards in 26 carries, including a one-yard touchdown with 22 seconds remaining.
