Ventura 51, Pierce 0--Travis Rogers rushed for 333 yards and two touchdowns in 19 carries for the Pirates in a WSC Northern Division game at Pierce.

Rogers, the WSC's leading rusher, scored on runs of 92 and 11 yards. Maurice Atwood added 123 yards and two touchdowns in 21 carries for Ventura.

The Pirates (8-2, 4-2), ranked 10th in Southern California, scored on all six first-half possessions and finished with 519 yards--all on the ground. Ventura, 1-9 last season, probably will earn its first bowl bid since 1989 when pairings are announced today.

After running back Raymar Adams of Pierce was stopped short on fourth and goal from the Pirates' one-yard line early in the second quarter, Ventura marched 99 yards in 13 plays to take a 17-0 lead on Rogers' 11-yard run.

Demons Bryan scored on a 35-yard punt return midway through the third quarter, then Josh Marian intercepted a shovel pass and returned it 62 yards for the Pirates' final score early in the fourth quarter.

Ventura attempted only four passes. Quarterbacks Brian Shubin and Taru Dalley were both zero for two.

Calvin Zinck of Pierce completed 18 of 39 passes for 168 yards.

Vaughn Corley caught five passes for 82 yards for the Brahmas (1-9, 0-6).
