Long Beach State 75, San Diego State 70--Junior center Mate Milisa and sophomore guard Ramel Lloyd each scored 18 points for the 49ers, who had lost eight consecutive games against the Aztecs.

Long Beach (2-3) shot a season-best 59% and made nine of 11 free throws, including two by senior forward D'Cean Bryant and one by freshman guard Ron Johnson in the final minute.

San Diego State hurt itself by making only 12 of 28 free throws.

"I think we're actually a better defensive team than we are offensively,' Lloyd said. 'We have a lot of new guys and we're still trying to get a lot of things together. This was a good win for us, and now we can start on a fresh track and get that winning spirit back."

Bryant had a team-high six rebounds for Long Beach, which led 35-31 at halftime.
