Spotlight: Hurricane Idles Chevron's Largest Refinery

October 01, 1998

Chevron Corp. said its largest oil refinery, in Pascagoula, Miss., remains idled because of flooding and other damage caused by Hurricane Georges. San Francisco-based Chevron said it doesn't know when the 295,000-barrel-a-day refinery will restart. The company would not comment on whether power has been restored. Chevron said it will still meet its supply commitments for refined products, but it would not say whether it might have to purchase supplies from other refiners to do so.
