October 03, 1998

Matt Reis and Brett Stern each scored two touchdowns to lead Pacifica to a 41-17 victory over Bolsa Grande Friday night at Bolsa Grande.

Stern, who gained 109 yards in nine carries, scored on runs of 59 and five yards, giving Coach Bill Craven his 170th career victory.

On the game's opening drive, Bolsa Grande punted to Reis, who returned the ball 47 yards for a touchdown. Stern followed with his first touchdown, giving Pacifica (3-1, 1-0) a 13-0 first-quarter lead.

Tam Huynh put Bolsa Grande (0-4) on the board with a six-yard reception from Doug Baughman, but Pacifica returned with Stern's second touchdown of the game and a 20-7 lead.

Bolsa Grande closed to 20-17 at the half on a 36-yard field goal and a one-yard run by Baughman.

The second half was all Pacifica. Reis scored on an 18-yard run, Willis Manley went in from one yard and Jared Kemp closed the scoring with a 62-yard touchdown run.

In another Garden Grove League game:

Los Amigos 38, Garden Grove 0--Andrew Niumata has looked more like a distance runner than a tailback this season for Los Amigos. Niumata continued the trend Friday, dashing for a 69-yard touchdown, his fourth run of that distance in as many games for the Lobos at Garden Grove.

Niumata, who finished with 198 yards in 13 carries, also rushed for a 66-yard touchdown in the first quarter and had an 80-yard scoring run erased by a holding penalty.

Leading 14-0 after one quarter, Los Amigos (2-2) increased its lead on a two-yard run by Anthony Faletoi, who scored again on a 22-yard burst later to make it 28-0.

Garden Grove is 1-3.
