Small Faces

October 04, 1998

Silicon Planet, the technology and culture exposition scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Santa Monica Airport's Barker Hangar, has been postponed. No new date has been set for the Allied Materials corporate event, which originally billed Beck (who later withdrew), Devo and host David Spade. . . .

Liz Phair not only has a new album out, but the singer is also at the center of a new novel. "The Last Rock Star Book" is the first from "guerrilla" rock critic Camden Joy, whose peculiar pamphlets are New York staples. In the freewheeling story, a man assigned to write a quickie biography of Phair gets caught up in his own life's turns, with Phair's phantom presence serving as something of his elusive muse.
