October 06, 1998|Daryl Strickland

Trying to further diversify its revenue stream, First American Financial Corp. of Santa Ana said Monday it has acquired a tenant screening company in Rockville, Md., for stock. Financial terms were not disclosed.

First American, a real estate title insurer, said it acquired The Registry, which provides landlords with reports on prospective tenants, as part of its effort to expand into "less cyclical markets."

In September, First American acquired CIC Inc., a pre-employment and resident screening company. First American's stock closed at $30.13 a share, down $2.63.
