Chatsworth Trounces Granada Hills in Sweep

Leslie Devera had 10 kills and Carly Allison, Liz Wiessner and Breeanna Rahn each added eight kills to help Chatsworth High defeat Granada Hills, 15-12, 15-11, 15-12, in a Northwest Valley Conference girls' volleyball match Thursday at Chatsworth High.

Ashley Cohen had 35 assists for the Chancellors (3-2, 1-1). Michelle Ferrucci had 17 kills and five blocks for Granada Hills (2-4, 1-2).

In other volleyball matches:

La Reina def. Carpinteria, 15-13, 15-3, 15-9--Jennifer Ryan and Ashlie Hain each had 11 kills and the Regals took control of the Tri-Valley League race at Carpinteria.

La Reina (10-0, 2-0) needed 34 rotations to win the first game and won at Carpinteria (7-1, 1-1) for the first time in three seasons.

La Canada def. Temple City, 15-6, 15-7, 15-1--Julie Taylor had three aces in the second game and three more in the third, for the Spartans in a Rio Hondo League sweep at Temple City.

La Canada (5-3, 2-0) had 17 aces, with Tracy Neumeier scoring four of her five in the final game.

Calabasas def. Santa Clara, 15-1, 15-8, 15-5--Brooke Niles had seven of her 14 kills in the second game for the Coyotes (10-0, 2-0) in a Frontier League match at Calabasas.

Taft def. Birmingham, 15-11, 15-2, 16-14--Trisha Bratford collected 15 kills and six blocks for the Toreadors (4-0, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Birmingham.

Buena def. Dos Pueblos, 15-9, 15-11, 16-14--Krystal McFarland had 12 kills and 17 assists for the Bulldogs (5-2, 4-2) in a Channel League victory at Buena.

Thousand Oaks def. Simi Valley, 12-15, 15-6, 7-15, 15-5, 15-4--Amy Ashford and Michelle Spencer each had 26 digs for the Lancers in a Marmonte League victory at Thousand Oaks.

Jen Corral had 11 kills and Elaina Delventhal had 26 assists for Thousand Oaks (9-4, 3-2).

Saugus def. Hart, 15-5, 15-13, 15-13--Amy Warne had seven kills for the Centurions (3-3, 2-0) in a Foothill League victory at Saugus.

GIRLS' GOLF

Newbury Park 137, Moorpark 162, Westlake 177--Julie McKenna shot six-over-par 41 and Cindy Lee had a 42 for the Panthers in a nonleague victory at Los Robles Golf Course.

Harvard-Westlake 133, Louisville 178, Alemany 187--Emma Stachowitz and Ina Kim each shot six-over-par 42 for the Wolverines in a Mission League victory at Encino Golf Course.

La Reina 146, Dos Pueblos 153, Santa Barbara 197--Madeline Jackson of Dos Pueblos shot three-over-par 38, but the Regals won a Tri-Valley League match at Glen Annie Golf Club in Santa Barbara.

Jennifer Marshall shot 45 for La Reina (14-0, 8-0).

BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY

Agoura 26, Simi Valley 30--Jeremy Law placed first in 16:36 to help the Chargers win a Marmonte League meet at Agoura.

Thousand Oaks 15, Newberry Park 40--Seth Neumuller clocked 15:44 and the Lancers swept in a Marmonte League meet at Peppertree Park.
