El Dorado quarterback Mitch Nord threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns and running back Brandon Fischer rushed for 172 yards and one touchdown to lead the Golden Hawks to a 27-13 upset victory over previously undefeated Brea Olinda Friday at Valencia High.

"What fired us up tonight was a [newspaper] article," Fischer said. "When we read that Lieng [Brea's running back) was unstoppable, it pumped us up."

Lieng, who was sixth in the county in rushing yardage entering the game, was held to three yards, and Travis Blood, the county's leading quarterback, was held to five completions for 108 yards. The Wildcats, who are ranked second in Southern Section Division IX and seventh in the county, dropped to 4-1. El Dorado is 3-2.

The Golden Hawks closed out their scoring in the fourth quarter on a four-yard touchdown pass from Nord to Bryce Nebeker.

The Wildcats scored on their first drive of the game, moving 73 yards in five plays to take a 7-0 lead. Blood completed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Deanta Birdsong.

Brea opens its Orange League season next Friday at Valencia, while El Dorado plays Century in an Empire League opener Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.
