Mayor Calls for Review of Security at City Hall

October 13, 1998

Recent attacks at government buildings around the country have prompted San Fernando Mayor Raul Godinez II to call for a review of security measures at City Hall.

City Administrator John Ornelas and Police Chief Dominick Rivetti were directed to review security measures and to report on potential improvements at next Monday's council meeting.

Godinez said shootings at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., and Riverside City Hall have raised concerns about the safety of city officials.

"Government, especially local government, is frequently becoming the target of people's frustration with the system," Godinez said. "Cities, being the most accessible form of government, need to be prepared to deal with this increasingly more frustrated public."
