Packard Bell Sues CTX in Patent Case

October 14, 1998|Bloomberg News

Packard Bell NEC Inc. said it sued CTX International Inc., alleging patent infringement and seeking an injunction to prevent CTX from making, selling or importing personal computers in the U.S. Packard Bell is also seeking unspecified damages for lost profit. In its suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, the No. 5 PC maker alleges that Industry-based CTX infringes five patents held by Packard Bell and its wholly owned subsidiary. CTX declined to comment on the specific allegations. Sacramento-based Packard Bell earlier this month settled a lawsuit that had accused the company of defrauding the U.S. military by selling computers with some used parts. Packard Bell paid $3.5 million to the government to resolve that case. Both companies are closely held.
