Impact Study Required for Retail Project

October 14, 1998|JAMES MEIER

North Tustin residents are cheering a recent decision by county officials to require an environmental impact report for a proposed shopping center that has raised traffic concerns.

The project is proposed in an unincorporated area under the county's control. County officials held a meeting Tuesday to gather input from residents for the report.

The 65,900-square-foot North Tustin Village project, proposed at the northwest corner of Newport Avenue and 17th Street, will produce an estimated 5,600 daily trips, according to the developer.

But area homeowners fear even greater traffic problems.

A Gelson's Market recently pulled out of the project.
