Where--Soldier Field, Chicago. When--Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Story line--Game 2 of Major League Soccer's best-of-three Western Conference finals presents the Galaxy with a must-win situation. Los Angeles, which finished the regular season with the best won-loss record, the best offense and the best defense in the league, was upset, 1-0, by the Fire in Game 1 at the Rose Bowl. Los Angeles has scored 94 goals this season. Chicago has given up only 46. It will be all-out offense versus all-out defense again, this time with a place in MLS Cup '98, the league's Oct. 25 championship game, on the line. If the Galaxy wins, Game 3 will be Oct. 21 in Pasadena.
