Orchids Galore at 3-Day Show

More than 6,000 orchid plants from all over the world will be on display at the 12th annual East West Orchid Show, which opens Friday and runs through Sunday at the New Otani Hotel and Garden and the adjacent Weller Court Shopping Center in Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles.

The show, which is free and open to the public, will feature demonstrations and lectures throughout the three-day run. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The centerpiece of the show will be 30 floral displays created by Southern California orchid societies and growers from California, the Midwest, the East Coast, Mexico, Hawaii, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil and Ecuador.

There will also be a separate vendor area at Weller Court Shopping Center offering a wide variety of orchid plants.
