Police Union Tentatively OKs 12% Raise Over 3 Years

October 20, 1998

The El Monte Police Officers Assn. has tentatively agreed to a 4% salary increase each of the next three years.

Association officials, who in September declared an impasse in contract talks, dropped their demand for a 15% increase. An overwhelming majority of officers have approved a new contract that calls for a 12% pay hike after three years.

Police officers in the city have been without a contract since July. The proposed agreement will go before the City Council at a meeting later this month.
