Couple, Both Doctors, Held in Tax Evasion Case

October 21, 1998

A husband and wife with separate medical practices were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of failing to pay state taxes, according to authorities.

Frederic G. Quevedo and Eduardita E. Quevedo, both of Van Nuys, were charged with two felony counts each of failing to file income tax returns in 1992 and 1993, according to the California Franchise Tax Board.

The couple, who allegedly did not report more than $800,000 of income from their medical practices, owe more than $65,000 in delinquent state income taxes, according to the board.

Frederic Quevedo, who is an obstetrics gynecologist in Burbank, was issued a medical license in 1969. Eduardita Quevedo, an ophthalmologist in Glendale, received her license in 1970.

The Quevedos are scheduled to be arraigned today at Van Nuys Municipal Court, authorities said.
