Orthopaedic Hospital, UCLA Unveil Alliance

October 22, 1998

A $200-million alliance of Orthopaedic Hospital and UCLA will expand programs for patient care, research and education in three Los Angeles medical facilities, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Some of the alliance's goal are to expand outpatient services for pediatrics, women's health and family medicine clinics at Orthopaedic Hospital, as well as children's orthopedic care at two UCLA health centers, said spokeswoman Heather Byrne.

The alliance, which is neither a merger nor a buyout, will fund renovations and double outpatient services to 150 patients at Orthopaedic Hospital near downtown, as well as improving services at UCLA's Westwood campus and the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center, James Luck, president of Orthopaedic said.

Hundreds of business and community leaders will gather today at 4 p.m. at the Orthopaedic Hospital to celebrate the alliance, said Byrne.
