Power Outage Affects About 3,000 Residents

October 22, 1998|JAMES MEIER

Edison International does not know why approximately 3,000 of its customers lost power Wednesday, an official of the company said.

And though the company restored power to half of them within 35 minutes, the rest went without electricity for more than two hours, said Edison spokesman Steve Hanson.

Fifty-seven customers would be without power until early this morning, Hanson said.

The outage, which occurred at 9:39 a.m., affected customers east of Jamboree Road and west of Turtle Rock Drive, south of the San Diego Freeway and north of Bonita Canyon Drive.

The cause is still under investigation, thought it was initially believed that contractors digging up power lines in the city may have caused the disruption, Hanson said.
