Jason Annis completed 11 of 16 passes for 250 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to help Valencia defeat Anaheim, 38-0, in an Orange League football game Thursday at Glover Stadium.
Marquis Johnson, who caught six passes for 109 yards, scored on an 81-yard pass play from Annis in the third quarter to extend Valencia's lead to 31-0.
Manuel Lopez scored a touchdown and Annis kicked a 36-yard field goal in the first half for Valencia (4-3, 1-1). Anaheim (0-7, 0-2) lost its 18th consecutive game.
In the Empire League:
Century 9, Cypress 6--Gus Gonzalez had two interceptions to lead a stingy defense that had five interceptions and a fumble recovery for Century (2-5, 1-1) at Western High.
Ramiro Carasa scored Century's only touchdown in the first quarter on a one-yard run to tie it, 6-6. That score was set up by Jamie Chavez's 66-yard return after a blocked field goal. Peter Espinosa kicked a 41-yard field goal in the second quarter, then Century relied on its defense.
In the Academy League:
Capistrano Valley Christian 34, Campbell Hall 19--Junior running back Ryan Allen scored four touchdowns, including a 90-yard kickoff return in the third quarter that gave Capistrano Valley Christian (5-2, 3-0) the lead for good and rushed for a team-high 154 yards in 19 carries for the visiting Eagles in an Academy League game at Birmingham High.
Allen scored on runs of four and 34 yards, and had a six-yard scoring reception from Jamie Tellier in the second quarter that gave Capistrano Valley Christian a 13-6 lead.
Tellier completed five of nine passes for 49 yards.
On the game's first play from scrimmage, senior running back Sean Porter gave Campbell Hall (1-5, 0-3) a 6-0 lead with an 82-yard touchdown run. Porter finished with 175 yards in 18 carries.
Capistrano Valley Christian junior fullback Dustin Smith, who also had an interception, rushed for 120 yards in 20 carries.
