October 24, 1998|ELAINE GALE

The anonymous scribe of an anti-Semitic e-mail message that was sent out to hundreds of faculty members and students at Irvine Valley College has yet to be identified, authorities said Friday.

The author used a provider, USA.NET Inc., which closed the sender's account shortly after the messages were received Thursday.

The message has been turned over to Assistant U.S. Atty. Michael Gennaco, who led the first successful prosecution of an Internet hate crime.
