La Canada 13, San Marino 7--Nate Dane threw two touchdown passes to Greg Swenson in the first half and the Spartan defense shut out the San Marino offense at La Canada.

La Canada (4-3, 2-0) opened the scoring with 23 seconds left in the first quarter on Dane's 14-yard scoring pass to Swenson. The play was set up when Ian Hughes recovered Blake Rutherford's fumble at the San Marino 14-yard line.

Dane's 13-yard scoring pass to Swenson in the second quarter capped a seven-play, 73-yard drive that included a 24-yard run by Swenson, a 17-yard run by Chet Johnson-Blasucci and a pass-interference penalty, which gave La Canada a first down at the 16.

After a holding penalty moved the ball back to the San Marino 26, Dane hit Chris Stone with a 13-yard pass, setting up the touchdown.

San Marino (4-3, 1-1), ranked No. 4 in Division X, got its only touchdown with 2:51 left in the third quarter when John Burdick intercepted a Dane pass and returned it 45 yards.

San Marino drove to the La Canada 13, but Jim Reynolds recovered Brad McCarthy's fumble at the 11-yard line with 3:47 to play.

Johnson-Blasucci rushed for 124 yards in 19 carries. The victory was La Canada's third in a row.
