Carrot Trick

October 28, 1998|DONNA DEANE

Dried carrots make a good substitute for nuts in baking. You add sweet chewiness without adding any fat. Use them in recipes as you would any other dried fruit. They make a nice addition, for instance, to granola and can be sprinkled over salads.

Half-pound bag $2.19, at Southland Trader Joe's stores.
