Hurricane Isis climbed up the Gulf of California and reached the Mexican mainland, drenching the state of Sinaloa. But Isis was likely to weaken as it moved over land, the U.S. National Weather Service in Miami said. Before reaching hurricane status, Isis caused heavy rains in the Baja California peninsula, killing at least one person. It also forced residents from their homes and knocked out power and phone service. Police found one body in Los Cabos, the Baja California Sur state government reported. Another person was reported missing, it said.
