Village Christian def. Crescenta Valley, 10-15, 15-8, 15-11, 13-15, 15-2--Errin Benesh had 31 kills, 10 blocks and 12 digs for the Crusaders (2-0) in a nonleague match at Village Christian.

Tiffany Davis added 27 assists and five aces for Village Christian, which defeated the Falcons for the first time in the 1990s.

Granada Hills def. Monroe, 12-15, 16-14, 14-16, 15-9, 15-6--Nicole Massey had seven of her 19 kills in the decisive fifth game for the Highlanders (1-0) in a nonconference match at Granada Hills.

Massey also had eight blocks and Jennifer Kim added 14 kills and Kim Averveck 33 assists for Granada Hills.

Kennedy def. Roosevelt, 14-16, 15-4, 15-6, 15-6--Nancy Phan had seven of her nine kills in the second and third games and Dara Sae-Tang had five of her 10 aces in the second game as Kennedy rallied to win a nonconference match at Roosevelt.

Kennedy (1-0), which got four kills by Phan in the third game, lost the first game after leading, 13-7, at one point.

Notre Dame def. Burroughs, 11-15, 15-3, 15-7, 15-11--January Machold and Sara Plumber each had seven kills for Notre Dame in a nonleague victory at Burroughs.

Sarah Braga also had 12 digs and Nevada Blonstein had 30 assists for Notre Dame (2-0).

Flintridge Sacred Heart def. La Canada, 15-7, 15-10, 15-9--Megan Hosp and Brynne Young each had nine kills and Gloria Borges had 55 assists for the Tologs (2-0) in a nonleague victory at Flintridge Sacred Heart.

Highland def. Canyon, 15-5, 15-10, 10-15, 15-6--Melissa Rawson and Keri Pulcifer each had five kills to lead the Bulldogs (2-0), who used all 14 players in a nonleague victory at Canyon.

Jamie Arnold had seven kills for Canyon (0-1).

Providence def. Bell-Jeff, 9-15, 15-4, 15-11, 15-9--Kary Vander Borght had seven kills, 13 assists and 10 digs for host Providence (1-1) and Lari Williams had seven kills and five blocks for Bell-Jeff (0-2) in a nonleague match.

Thousand Oaks def. Moorpark, 12-15, 16-14, 15-13, 15-4--Megan Gately had 38 digs and four aces for the Lancers (2-0, 1-0) in a Marmonte League opener at Moorpark.

Jen Corral had 13 kills for Thousand Oaks.

Calabasas def. St. Bonaventure, 15-8, 15-11, 15-7--Brooke Niles had 25 kills and nine digs for Calabasas (3-0) in a nonleague match at St. Bonaventure.

Camarillo def. Santa Paula, 5-15, 15-10, 15-11, 15-13--DeAna Jensen had 10 kills for the host Scorpions (1-1) in a nonleague match at Camarillo.

Westlake def. Newbury Park, 15-4, 15-1, 15-7--Shannon Keller had six of her seven service aces for the Warriors (1-0) in the second game of the Marmonte opener at Westlake.

Saugus def. Quartz Hill, 15-7, 15-11, 15-6--The Centurions (1-1) had 17 aces, including eight by setter Jamie Bolt, in a nonleague match at Quartz Hill.

Bolt also had 20 assists and five kills. Amy Warren added eight kills and Julie Watson had four aces.
