GM Honors Cal State Marketing Students

September 19, 1998|CHRISTINE CASTRO

Cal State Fullerton marketing students recently received national honors in the General Motors Marketing Internship program.

Students from marketing professor Katrin Harich's advertising management class won the Scholastic Achievement Award for the best integrated marketing communications campaign of the 1997-98 academic year. The team was also named runner-up for the overall Scholastic Achievement Award.

Acting as a marketing agency under the name Creative Solutions, the marketing class set a goal to increase awareness for its client, Hardin Oldsmobile in Anaheim. The 31-student firm set up booths, displays and games at the 41st annual Silverado Days Fair in Buena Park. The firm's game--"How many times can you say Hardin Oldsmobile in 15 seconds?"--won high praise for its creativity.

More than 100 colleges and universities nationwide participate in the General Motors program, designed to give students hands-on experience by working with real clients, spending real money and satisfying real objectives.
