Air Patrol Squadron to Offer Free Rides

September 22, 1998|JASON TAKENOUCHI

Adults can ride in the airplane, but only if they are escorted by a responsible child.

That's the message from officials running the upcoming "Awareness Day" for Civil Air Patrol Squadron 61 at Camarillo Airport.

Free airplane rides will be the centerpiece of the Oct. 3 open house to publicize the patrol's history and current activities.

The event includes free refreshments, airport tours and a display of vintage aircraft.

The all-volunteer air patrol performs most of the search and rescue work for the U.S. Air Force. Cadets who succeed in the group's training program are eligible for scholarships and, in some cases, appointment to military academies.

Airplane rides will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but children will have priority. Call 482-7598 for information.
