September 26, 1998

The Appointed Los Angeles City Charter Reform Commission will hold its second of seven neighborhood open houses today.

Residents will have a chance to respond to the commission's recommendations through interactive display boards, view a seven-minute video presentation and offer their opinions and suggestions during a public comment session.

Some of the recommendations proposed by the commission include an increase in the size of the City Council and the establishment of a system of advisory neighborhood councils.

Today's meeting will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Christ the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Leimert Park, 3303 W. Vernon Ave., Los Angeles.

The Elected Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission will meet Tuesday to discuss issues concerning placement of charter proposals on the ballot and the city's elections and recalls process.

In addition, the commission will discuss local service questions, such as whether the city should devote more money to local libraries and local parks.

There will be a period of public comment. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Wilshire United Methodist Church, Hall of Fellowship, 711 S. Plymouth St., Los Angeles.
