"An Evening With Theodore Taylor," featuring the award-winning Laguna Beach author of adult and young adult fiction and nonfiction, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave.

Taylor, whose books include "The Cay," "The Trouble With Tuck" and "The Flight of Jesse Leroy Brown," will discuss the evolution of books and the process of writing. For more information about the free event, call (949) 717-3801.

* Children's book illustrator Bonnie MacKain will discuss and sign "100 Hungry Ants" and "Remainder of One" at 2 p.m. Saturday, and children's book author Julie Mammano will discuss and sign "Rhinos Who Surf" and "Rhinos Who Snow Board" at 2 p.m. Sunday at Borders Books, Music and Cafe, 429 S. * Cal State Fullerton professor Nancy Segal, author of "Entwined Lives: Twins and What They Tell Us About Human Behavior," will discuss and sign her book at 7 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books, Music and Cafe, 429 S. Associated Road, Brea.
