* Pasadena Senior Center, which provides services to older Chinese Americans, needs volunteers to drive seniors to medical appointments, help seniors with documents, teach English-as-a-second-language classes and perform other tasks. Information: Pat Geddes, (626) 795-4331, Ext. 628.

* Friends to the Elderly in Los Angeles needs people to visit the elderly in nursing homes and board-and-care facilities who have no family or friends to visit them. Information: (310) 859-9336.

* Torrance Memorial Home Health & Hospice needs volunteers to provide support to the grieving. Training starts April 28 and continues each Wednesday through May 19. Information: the Rev. Brad DeFord, (310) 784-3754.

* TrinityCare Hospice in Van Nuys needs volunteers to lend emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. Information: Lianne Casselman, (818) 785-1800.
