Work Release May Allow August Bout for Tyson

April 22, 1999| From Reuters

NEW YORK — Mike Tyson probably will begin a work-release program at a Maryland jail by June and be ready to fight in August, his advisor, Shelley Finkel, said Wednesday.

Finkel said he was looking at German Axel Schulz, among others, as Tyson's first opponent. The fight would almost certainly be in Las Vegas.

Under the work-release program, Tyson would train during the day and return to jail at night. Finkel said it was unclear what restrictions would be placed on Tyson traveling to fight.
