STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS / ROUND ONE | NOTES

April 22, 1999|HELENE ELLIOTT

Dave Lewis, one of the Red Wing associate coaches, said he would someday like to be a head coach but would not discuss the Kings' coaching vacancy. Lewis, a former King defenseman, has spent 11 years on Detroit's coaching staff and is well-regarded around the NHL.

His name has come up on the list of potential candidates to succeed Larry Robinson, whose contract was not renewed.

"I've had no contact with them, nothing," Lewis said. "There's just an association because I played for them and I'm in coaching."
