The biotechnology company Amgen is accepting nominations for its Award for Teacher Excellence program.
The Amgen Foundation recognizes five elementary and secondary school teachers annually for their efforts in the classrooms and awards them $10,000 each. The company will announce winners April 19 and host a dinner reception for those selected May 2.
To nominate a teacher, send a letter with the educator’s first and last name, grade level, school and city to Amgen Award for Teacher Excellence, One Amgen Center Drive, Mailstop 27-4-B, Thousand Oaks, 91320-1799. Nominations must include an explantation of why the teacher deserves the award.
Nominations also may be submitted at Amgen’s Web site: http://www.amgen.com/teacher award.
Anyone can nominate a teacher, but to be eligible for the award, educators must teach in public or private schools in Ventura County or surrounding areas.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 18.
