The Los Angeles city attorney's office announced it will go to Superior Court today to ask that a request for a permanent injunction against the 18th Street gang be postponed pending the Los Angeles Police Department's investigation into alleged corruption.
Michael Qualls, a spokesperson for the office, said the injunction is aimed at branches of the gang located in the Rampart Division, which is the focus of an LAPD corruption probe. The injunction request was initially postponed about two months ago, when allegations of police misdeeds came to light.
