Hudson Steps Up in Anderson’s Absence
Point guard Troy Hudson may not always make the right pass or swish all of his shots, but the former Continental Basketball Assn. player is as tough as they come.
Hudson, who has started 14 games, is shooting less than 40% from the field and his 3.5 assists a game ranks near the bottom among the league’s point guards.
But it was Hudson’s relentless approach that helped the Clippers in their comeback victory over Golden State on Friday. He played 41 minutes and finished with 20 points and tied a career-high with seven rebounds.
“Troy works extremely hard,” Coach Chris Ford said. “He’s a guy who caught my eye last season. I love the way he battles and appreciate the effort he gives. I love the way he plays.”
With guard Derek Anderson expected to be sidelined at least another week, Hudson is being counted on to step up offensively. Over the last four games, Hudson is averaging 15.8 points and is 23 of 47 from the field.
“My teammates and coaches have showed lots of confidence in me,” said Hudson, who had a solid game the last time the Clippers played Vancouver with 18 points and a season-high 11 assists.
