The City Council this week granted residents on Live Oak Avenue and Mimosa Place exemptions from the city's overnight parking restrictions, which last from 2 to 5 a.m.
The same exemption has been granted to other residential areas in the city. With this latest decision, the exemption is now applied to 10% of the city.
City officials had been receiving complaints from residents who said their garage parking was inadequate, and they had to park on the streets or let their vehicles hang over the sidewalk. As a result, residents were being issued tickets for overnight parking and blocking sidewalks.
