THE CUTTING EDGE : Digital Media Weekly Ceases Publication

HEARD ON THE BEAT

February 08, 1999|CHARLES PILLER

EMediaweekly, a trade publication devoted to digital media production, ceased operations last week, only six months after it was created to replace another trade magazine, MacWeek. Mac Publishing--which publishes both EMediaweekly and Macworld magazine--blamed weak market conditions in the graphics niche.

"I thought [eMediaweekly] was ill-conceived from the beginning," said James Staten, an analyst with Dataquest in San Jose. He said that the publication faced stiff competition from Web-based graphics publications as well as the more-established monthly NewMedia.
