CRA Delays Naming New Administrator

July 02, 1999

LOS ANGELES — The Community Redevelopment Agency board delayed appointing a new administrator Thursday after one member suggested that a private consultant be selected for the post.

The board agreed to meet again Wednesday to discuss a successor to John Molloy, who abruptly retired from the administrator's post on Tuesday in a budget dispute with the board.

Board member Keith Richman said Thursday that a private management consultant should be hired on an interim basis.

Management experts at UCLA who recently evaluated CRA operations are among those being considered to serve as interim administrator.

Chief Deputy Administrator Diana Webb can make day-to-day decisions until an interim administrator is chosen, Richman said.
