Mariposa Elementary School is expected to name its candidate for principal Thursday, said Brea Olinda Unified Supt. Peggy Lynch. Mariposa has been without a principal since June 30, when Susan Kaiser resigned amid controversy that resulted in an investigation of the school that cost taxpayers about $20,000. School officials refused to talk about details of the investigation because it involved minors but admitted that the school has been having personnel problems.

"We brought in an outside consultant to look at the school," Lynch said. "The report was given to the Board of Education. After the report, the principal also indicated she would not be returning to the school."

Kaiser retained a lawyer because of the allegations made against her while she was at the school. But she hasn't pursued any legal channels, school officials said. Kaiser was on vacation and unavailable for comment.
