Villa Park

Children will play a special role in the city's upcoming Y2K weekend celebration by filling a time capsule with mementos from the 1990s to be opened in the 21st century, Councilman Bob McGowan said. Villa Park Pharmacy owner Jim Brodsky has offered the grassy area in his parking lot to bury the time capsule, which will be marked with a brass plaque.

The city is still planning the party to celebrate the century's end. The main New Year's Eve event is adults-only, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., adjacent to City Hall. Nonrefundable tickets go on sale in August at City Hall. Ticket prices should be around $80 per person. For advance reservations, call McGowan at (714) 538-0367.
