A poetry reading featuring Cheyne Last will be held at 8 tonight at the Ugly Mug Cafe, 261 N. Glassell St., Orange.

* Adreana Robbins (daughter of bestselling author Harold Robbins) will read from her debut novel, "Paris Never Leaves You," and Ruth Frenkel of Random House will discuss the publishing house's latest offerings, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble in Fashion Island, 953 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach.

* Luis Gonzalez will discuss and sign "Spirits of the Revolution" at 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble, 13712 Jamboree Road, Irvine.

* Presidential hopeful Dan Quayle will sign "Worth Fighting For" at noon Friday at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda. Tickets for Quayle's 11 a.m. talk are $14; the signing is free, but only books purchased at the library will be signed.

* Nancy Robison will discuss and sign "Dear Son, About Your Wedding" and "Dear Daughter, About Your Wedding" at 7 p.m. Friday at Barnes & Noble, 26751 Aliso Creek Road, Aliso Viejo.

* Military aviation historian and author Garry Pape will speak at the Orange County chapter of the California Writers Club meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Downey Savings & Loan, 201 W. Bastanchury Road, Fullerton.

* Robert Crais will sign "L.A. Requiem" at 11 a.m., and Barbara Hambly will sign "Graveyard Dust" at 1 p.m., Saturday at Book Carnival, 348 S. Tustin Ave., Orange.

* Edward Humes will discuss and sign "Mean Justice" at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble in the Huntington Beach Mall, 7777 Edinger Ave.

* Children's book author and illustrator Julie Mammano will discuss her career, demonstrate her illustrating techniques and sign "Rhinos Who Skateboard" at 7 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books and Music, 429 Associated Road, Brea.

* George E. Hobart will discuss and sign "Discount Airfares: The Insiders Guide" at 2 p.m. Sunday at Barnes & Noble, 13712 Jamboree Road, Irvine.

* Eric Shelman will discuss and sign "Out of the Darkness: The Story of Mary Ellen Wilson" at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Barnes & Noble, 26751 Aliso Creek Road, Aliso Viejo.
