Actress Pleads No Contest to Shooting into Cars, House

July 23, 1999|EVELYN LARRUBIA

The actress who played Fonzie's girlfriend in the "Happy Days" television show pleaded no contest Thursday to charges of shooting into a neighbor's apartment in a plea arrangement with prosecutors.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Karen Rizzo said Roz Kelly, 56, was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday in Van Nuys Superior Court, but that the sentence may be reduced to probation after a 90-day diagnostic evaluation by the Department of Corrections.

Kelly, best known for her role as Pinky Tuscadero in the 1974-84 television show, was arrested Nov. 29 after allegedly using a 12-gauge Winchester shotgun to silence a car alarm that had been keeping her awake.

Authorities said Kelly shot two cars outside her North Hollywood home, then walked up to a neighbor's apartment, smashed a window and fired into the living room. The neighbor was not home and no one was hurt.

She was charged with three felonies and was facing a maximum of more than eight years in prison had she been convicted on all counts.
